Summary of Tell-Tale Heart

Tell-Tale Heart is a story talks about a man that doesn't think he is crazy, he thinks that he is just nervous. From the actions and speeches, we can infer that he is actually a crazy person. In the story, the main character wants to kill an old man, not because the old man has done something bad to him, it is just his eyes has made him uncomfortable. The man wants to kill an old man just because of his eyes! Doesn't that sounds crazy? The man has been observing the old man for 7 days. Finally, on the eight day, the man was hidden right next to the old man's bed. The old man found out that there was something wrong about his room, he felt like someone was in his room, and prepare to do something bad to him. As the old man's heart beats get louder and louder, the narrator is getting more and more nervous. Finally, the narrator killed the old man by the bed. Eventually, the police came to the house for some investigation. The narrator first stays calm, but later he heard the heart beats (his own), he became nervous. He thought that the polices have heard the heart beat, and they were just pretending that they didn't hear anything. The narrator couldn't take that any more, he confessed his crime.

Deception

Honestly, I don't really get why the author uses misconception in this story. In the book "The Westing Game", the author leaves tons of questions and uncertain answer for the readers. What is that person? That person doesn't exist? That person is died? What? This book just leaves me so many questions, so many questions that I don't even know what questions do I have. I think the writer uses this kind of misconception, because she wants the reader to read the story times. Since we are not able to understand the story the first time, we will have to read more times in order to catch up what is going on with the story. The writer is trying confuse us with this kind of technique, so that we will read the story more carefully and more slowly. This type of misconception makes me feel very depressed and frustrated. I am very angry to myself that I can't understand what is the book talking about, that confuses me a lot.

Hints and Foreshadowing

In the story "The Tell-Tale Heart", a man says that he is just dreadfully nervous, but not crazy. He gives a lot of clues that hints that he is a abnormal, unusual man. First, he wanted to kill the old man that had always treated him nice. Second, he said that he didn't move a muscle when the old man thought that someone was in his room. Third, he confessed his crime very soon after he killed the old man. The actions and speech that the narrator acted out makes people very sure that he is a crazy. At the beginning part of the story, the narrator says "True!-nervous-very,very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say I am mad?....."This sentence makes people feel uncomfortable and creepy. Usually, people who are crazy won't say that they are crazy. From this sentence, we can know that this story will be very queer and strange. Over all, the writer has used a lot of foreshadowing and hints that help readers to anticipate what will happen later, the mood is scary and creepy that little kids may have nightmare after they read the story......

Narrator

Narrator is the person who is telling the story for us, they can be either trustable or untrustable. Sometimes, narrator can't be trusted is because of the exaggeration, they make thing sounds too exaggerated, which has a high possibility that it is not true. In the story "Tell-Tale Heart'', the narrator says that he is just nervous, and he isn't crazy. He needs to kill the old man, just because of his eyes are making him uncomfortable, even that old man treat him nice. The man takes a hour just to take a look. Even though the narrator says that he is not a crazy person, but from his speech and his action, we can't really believe that he is a normal person. I am not very sure about why the autor will create a unreliable character, mabye he just wants the reader to think more while we are reading his or her story. He wants us to get suspicious about the narrator's words, which can make the story more interesting. I can't really tell that the person is saying the truth or not, but most of the times, I can distinguish that is the narrator telling the truth or not. The language that the person use, the action he does, his appearance......all of them are useful on knowing whether the person is telling the truth.

Scary Story

Honestly, I am scare of many things. For examples: monsters, ghosts, scary people......But the thing I scare the most is actually roaches. I am even scare of actually say the name of that creature out, it just feels scary for me. Well, I guess the reason that I am scare of roaches is that they look creepy and ugly, they move super fast with their thin, weird legs, and they are super oily. I remember one story about roaches. One time, I went out after I finished my shower, I wore my shoes, and then I felt something strange is happenning with one of my feet. I took a look, and then I found out there was a tiny roach hidding in my shoe. I was terrified, and so as that roach. It quickly crowed over my feet and gone like a wind. I didn't shout or scream when I saw that roach, mabye it was because I was too scared. After that roach was gone, I took a look on my feet. I found out that my feet was super oily, so oily that I can't find any vocabularies to describe about it. It takes for me about 10 minutes to clean my toes, it was unbelievable! I can't really imagine that such small creature can make such amount of oil! I hope that no more roaches will appear in our house.

Ode

Well, I have some ideas about ode.
Here are some examples for ode
EX1:
                            Airplane
                    -The airplane flies
                    -The airplane glides
                    -Going left and right
                    -Rising and falling
-It flies across the oceans and lands
                 -Making noise like radio
             -Causing vibrations like earthquake
                 -People on the airplane
            -Some Dili-Dali with cosolation
-Some wondering when will they drop off
-Some play video games with excitements
            -Some eats food with satisfaction
                       -Anything is possible
                          -Well, on airplane
                               The End
Well, this is my first example of an ode. As you can see, this is a not so good and short ode ( in my opinion), because I didn't use to write poem a lot. Anyway, I have a second example, please take a look.
EX2:                            Apple
                                    -Apple
                            -a sweet, red food
                         -fruit and not vegetable
-hard to play as a basketball
-because it is not a sphere, and not bouncy
-but easy to use on science experiment
-because it has seeds, and it is fruit
                             -apples grow on tree
-not just trees, but apple trees
-apple trees are grown in many places
                                 -around the world
                    -United States, Japan, German, Itay
                                       -I like apple
                                        -it is tasty
                                      -it is healthy
                                 -it gives me energy
                                 -if you are available
                                  -eat some apples!
                                         The End
Basically, this is all. Thank you very much!

Lunar New Year

For this new year, I went to Taipai two times. It was pretty fun! Even though there were many good and happy events happened during Chinese New Year, there were still sad events. First, I broke my glasses at the first day of Chinese New Year. That was super unlucky! The first day! That meant I couldn't fix the glasses until Chinese New Year over, I have to wear contact every day in New Year (I am not very good at putting contacts). Second, I was sicked. This was after I went to Taipai two times. I wasn't really sure what kind of disease I had, but I had a headche and I felt like sneezing all the times. It took me three days on healing my sickness, it was pretty painful! The first times that I went to Taipai was for meeting my grandfather. We were in joy on eating hot-pot for dinner. One thing special about the restaurant that we went was they didn't kill the shrimp, they were still alive when we got them. We just threw the alive shrimp into the hot water, and watched their skin color changed from grey to orange. That was kind of scary! The second time that we went to Taipai was for meeting my mom's brothers and sisters. We went to Yung Ming Mountain at Taipai together, it was very fun and foggy there. I also got red envelops from my mom's brothers and sisters. I am not very sure how much I get, but I know it is not few. Basicaly, this was all my 2011 Chinese New Year.
