Outsiders Film v Book
Personally, I think the Outsiders book is very interesting. It mentions about every little details in the story, for example it describes about the church that Johnny and Ponyboy lived, the relationship between Socs and Greasers, and the accident that happened to Ponyboy's parents. The book has expressed a complete feeling, because it has full of details to describe about it. The movie of "The Outsiders" is totally different than the book. First, the movie shows a lot less detail compare to the book. You can see that from several parts of the movie. First, it hasn't talked about what happened to Ponyboy's mom and dad in the movie. In the book, it says that their parents die because of a car accident, but not in the movie at all. Second, the movie didn't really state about the relationship between Socs and Greaser very clearly. If I didn't read the book, I wouldn't be able to know that the socs are rich kids and greasers are the poor kids. I think the film maker is trying to create the feeling that the story makes, he is trying to express the story in his own way, not just copy the whole story. I think that is very good, it is good to be more creative. Totally, I think the movie is pretty good, but it just that people will know more about the story through reading.
